Ok i'm new to the series and won't lie, I was ready to be cringing but Miku and gang bring the cuteness even a hard biker guy could go awww to. Music games have been huge on handhelds mostly to the PSP games like Patapon and few others but Miku has been a cult favorite since it has hit. Story is it's only weakness but when has story been strong in music games? The J-pop style is catchy and with everything going down during songs like stage effects and dancing, pushing the right buttons isn't all that hard as I thought it would be. There is alot of style in the game and stuff to unlock like costumes which can have an aura that helps within a certain cloud you can play on like cuteness for example.
Song styles have different genres from rock to even some hip hop but the singing is not in english so if you want to read the lyrics you can watch a video in freeplay which is a nice feature because some lyrics make you look sideways but just cute to stop playing. Graphics look great and load times are pretty quick from start to finish. In story mode you fill up the crystals within each cloud and after each one fills up you preform a finale on a big stage. The BPM(beats per minute) range from slow to you need to be Goro from Mortal Kombat which is always nice to finlly complete that one song on a harder difficulty. Something new added is modules you can earn during the stages and you know you are about to get it when rainbow tracks appear or rainbow road if you want to be funny but you're not always getting a new one so grinding is needed.
Another gimmick is the gift system which lets you give gifts to the idols that make the friendships level up and even unlock things within it. After a few rounds of Miku the game made me hum the tunes which always happen in music games to me (thank you Xonic's Boomerrang). For my first full Miku title, I had a great time and I never had problems or issues with the title and any vita owner should get this because you will play Diva X for many hours to come.
Score 10 Out Of 10
+ It's a Miku and company game again
Great tunes
Graphics look great
Unlocks galore
