Quick play RPGs aren't new and have been on every system for awhile and Vita now can say it has one to call its own labeled Mystery Chronicles: One Way Heroics. The premise of the game is to stop a calamity called the shine raid, a huge light engulfing the world that it gets a hold of so you got to find a way to stop it. When I call this a quick game I mean if you play on easy after the 400km mark you face the boss if you win, the game ends. When playing on the harder difficulty, you get a choice to confront the boss or continue. The pixel graphics are great to look at and the crossover characters make the game even more fun to play but all classes play different and each have their +/-.
The thing that makes One Way Heroics different is online is heavy in this game with online worlds to play in and pvp along with tweeting your results which by the way look ugly when you look at them sadly but hey it's something new so hopefully it gets better but it still is a neat gimmick. After a run you get to save an item in your dream vault and use for the next run if you choose. You also get genesis stones that can unlock classes, perks and add more space in the vault. This is a rogue style game but perks you unlock stay on your characters for every run and some you can stack to increase their use as well as using dream stones to build the castle and getting a chance to earn more items in your runs. Weight plays a big part in this and if over your weight limit, you won't be able to move which makes the risk even higher because some items won't be ID'd until after the run or by a rare item.
The future series has a great start and has the "one more run" value with very long replayability making this a sureshot to buy. Also on that note Limited Run Games will be doing a limited run on physical editions of the title and it's one to own big time. The game loads up quick and had no issues during gameplay and to get the true ending will require luck and doubt most will get it but that is the best part of the rogue style genre. Worlds are coded and also link between PC/PS4/Vita so write your code down and share it with fans.
