Movies like Blade Runner always catch my eye and sci-fi visual novels hook me in though never many available besides otome novels which isn't my thing but hey if you like them well good for you. 2064 ROM caught my eye years back but was never going to happen on vita till the big news happened to be told that it was and instabought happened to me and other Vita game holders across the world. Now on iOS, there are more ways to play this gem from MidBoss and please do because not only is it point and click adventure from the days of old, but one of the strongest stories and beloved characters to grace a game.
You are a struggling journalist writing a review on headphones which turns into investigating a missing person with help from a robot named Turning who just shows up at your house to say the least. There is a lot of twist and turns and you grow to like (or hate) the characters you meet along the story and yes you can hate them by the choices you make even kill your own plant who has a name.
The gameplay is basic point and click with selecting an item or speak to whatever you want even objects but Neo San Francisco is anything but basic filled with electronic cars and hackers everywhere along with a bar where you can go for a drink and talk to people. Let me address two things I didn't like about the game which is one: the short time with the computer you have fills like you are left out with what's going on around the world around you due to a part in the story. Now Va-11 Hall-A it was always there after a shift and you felt informed and actually there but in 2064, it's the opposite. Number two is the final part in the game that just was a pain to play through but was needed but it wasn't hard just out of place a bit. Nothing conflicted with the overall game just little nitpicks here and there but the music was awesome and felt perfect for the atmospheric tone of the game.
I will say loading takes a bit but it is worth the purchase and to let you know Limited Run Games are doing a limited physical run of 2064 and Va-11 Hall-A this month and fans should pick them up because the two are gems and are tied together a bit.
Score 9.5 out of 10
Pros: Great story
Likable Characters
The voice acting is perfect
Cons: The last part of the game is a pain
