Hey who doesn't love Nintendo mascots like Mario and his higher jumping Italian brother Luigi? You have Mario Tennis, Super Mario World and other Mario games but no Luigi games besides Mario Is Missing and from what I can remember, you never could die in that game and there was Yoshi in there too. It took till the GameCube game Luigi's Mansion in early 2000's that he got a 2nd shot at a solo game and shocker Mario is missing.....again so how is this game and what could go wrong.....sigh you will see....now the review
The game opens up with Luigi winning a mansion in a contest he never signed up for and after you get inside the creepy mansion it reminds you of the GameCube remake of Resident Evil for kids and it goes from there with meeting Professor E Gadd to using elements to beat ghost and finding Mario's items to take to a fortune teller. The gameplay is simple with sucking up ghost in a dark room to make the lights come on and later in the game capture Boos soon after but its way of doing it really takes away from the game with not only moving the c-stick when using the vacuum but also the game system moves him at the same time which gets frustrating after awhile to the point I gave up during the 3rd area so no I didn't complete it but I played enough to give this a good review and I never played the 2nd title that's on 3DS but if it plays the same count me out. The graphics is not outdated and the music is good but if you don't have good gameplay you have nothing.
I played games with bad controls or bad camera angles since N64/PS1 days but never a game with two controls at once since that's something you never ever do but just update it with gyro controls optional and you have a solid game but until that happens, I have a game collecting dust.
Overall score: 6.5 out of 10
Pros: Graphics look great
Nice Resident Evil style for the game
Cons: Gyro controls plus using c-stick is a no go for fun.
