I was a huge Persona 4 DAN fan had the DLC and played a few songs to death and now that Persona 3/5 Dancing games are out I'm doing the same thing only these don't have a story mode.....though not a bad thing since it wasn't a strong point but you do have social links in these two games but those aren't that great either but you do unlock things doing them. Graphics look like they improved over DAN a little bit but when booting up the game you noticed collection has been shaved down to just showing characters and scores so no more music player and no besides the intro there are no cutscenes.
While they added ways to make the game longer it still pretty much a weekend game and you finished it besides trophy hunting because you can't just play one song and that's it. Now DLC songs shine with Persona Q but hopefully Q's intro song is added soon cause that was a stand out but Groovy and Battle Of The Hymm are awesome as well. I never played 5 or the Arena series but the characters look great and sound great and 3 just begs a proper handheld version of it to be done (with FES added) and the backgrounds of the areas are greatly reproduced to what they were. Now more on Social Links and how they work: you have to have watched a certain amount of SL's to open one or have got a x amount of perfects obtained to open another up and it's other things like that and after rank 5 is done with opens up 6,7 and 8 ranks which lets you explore the bedrooms looking for a card the twins hid which unlocks other costumes or accessories for characters.
Music in P5 is a bit of everything unlike 4 where it was mostly rock besides a few songs and a song that went to being my favorite from being the worst one due to a bad remix of it ( yes snowflake you) the remixes in this one fit better and even makes me want the soundtrack which isn't on Apple sadly. Beneath The Mask is a standout on this subject along with P5's theme song. Now I don't know what future DLC there will be but please add more Persona Q to it because that had a good amount of great songs plus maybe a few more character DLCs won't hurt. The dancing looks great but hard to watch and play even harder on the highest difficulty but the shadow world song is hard to play even on easy because it's so trippy but overall if you love the songs you might already have this game. On vita it runs smooth as a stick of butter and didn't really notice any difference between this and a video of the PS4 version but if you never played Persona 4 DAN it is included with the PS4 version. I do need to do a small rant though about season pass on this which is: it doesn't make sense to block songs to only be in season pass because that's not how season passes work unless those songs are to be released later in the year but I'll shall see because I want to see if buying the season pass works for both Persona 5 and 3 or just separate.
Update: The Atlus Selection did come out and works for both titles
Final score 8.7 out of 10
The Good: choreography is amazing and seems to be better than in P4 Dancing All Night
Graphics look sharper and the songs are all great
P5's darkness theme and P3's brightness theme both shine
The Bad: Season Pass may or maybe not blocking songs
Where are the Personas?
The Just Plain Weird: Last Surprise....that is all
