In 2011 PS3 owners got Hyperdimension Neptunia a rpg from NIS which met with mixed reviews. Idea Factory, Felistella and Compile Hearts got the game and made it better with the release of HDN:Victory. Now Vita owners get the first RPG of the series with a remake or more of a rebirth of the title. This is the best remake to a handheld I have seen and that goes without saying. What's changed you say well try this: a remake system where YOU can change how the game is from enemies and items for a start. Plus no random encounters or a search system and a solid framerate.
You play as Neptune who is a CPU or Goddess of Planeptune who after the Console Wars, got knocked off and fell down like a shooting star and lost her memory. You are joined by Compa and IF with others joining later in the game. The world map has been changed to be easier to navigate and the battling has changed to be a freeform movement style. Graphics are very well done and show no framerate drop at all that I noticed while playing.
Fighting is a combo system like in Xenosaga/Xenogears but with a added shield you lower by hitting X. Triangle is attacks that raise your EXE gauge and Square is your power attacks. There's a lot of story and comes with a lot of parody from other games like Pac-Man and other famous games and the whole area is called Gameindustri. Story from the original has been changed that it feels like a totally new game which is awesome and something I haven't really seen in RPGs still pretty new.
Should vita owners who like RPGs get this? Answer is an easy yes....if you like adult humor, a game that doesn't take itself serious and anime. It's one to definitely play and experience has it's a fun game and lots of sidequest to keep you busy. Hopefully the others come to the US because the Vita needs more RPGs on the system.
Pros: Nice Graphics
A total change to the game
Loading is pretty quick.
