Futuridium hit the iOS last July which I reviewed on an iOS site and also hit PC, Desura and Linux a little while after. Now hitting PS4 and Vita how does it do?
First off Luca and Omar did a fantastic job with the music and that goes without saying. The game is basically "what would Star Fox on shrooms and Death Star trench fights with trippy visuals and electronic/dubstep be like" well it's awesome. MixedBagGames took a retro shooter and made it new all over again and with the Deluxe now it increased to new levels. Included is turbo which makes you go faster, a flappy bird like game they did for FlappyJam and more everything. After playing iOS version (which never leaves my device) I can say the iOS version is more of a demo in what is in that compared to the Deluxe EP.
There are five zones and each one has the difficulty raised on top of trying to ace levels based on 3 medal types which are how fast you complete the level, Max chains and without losing a life. Completing everything will be a lot harder then the infamous Velocity 2X level to get everything, so this will last very well until the Forma. 8 release. Cubes are still the same way used, which means a certain amount reached unlocks level skins, credits and new modes to play. If I had to say anything bad about the game, my only grip would be the 1st person is hard as hell to navigate but the rest of the game well, the game is a blast (no pun intended).
Final verdict: The iOS game got bigger and a whole lot more fun with tons of added things to unlock. Level select is a great thing for when you need to fully complete level 27 and don't want to start from scratch, or maybe you do and want to rack up the points. The continuing on a credit but cutting your score in half is a great risk/ reward tool that could help or hinder you depending on if your a leader board type of person. The trippy visuals and soundtrack make it have a "one more" feeling and doesn't let up with the action though 3-D glasses not available.
Score 10 out of 10
Pros: The "longer version" of the mobile/PC hit on a Vita/PS4 is awesome.
Comes with the soundtrack.
Must shoot everything.
Cons: seeing all the big scores and you haven't even graced the list
(I can't think of anything bad to say)
