TIME TO NEP THIS GAME ALL UP
The gang is all back together or so it seems but not gonna spoil that part but I will say it's really a cool spin I haven't seen in a game before. Everything you know about Neptune games is still the same which is great but it leveled up as well.
If you did a comparison of Re:Birth 1 to 3 you will see an improvement and it shows. Everything seems to pop now though there is lag when entering dungeons, it last for about 5 seconds. Guess for loading the enemies but runs pretty smooth after that. The menu has been redone and makes it really shine out of the three games and there is some a new feature and a very vastly changed feature that truly reminds me of FF8 PC edition I will touch on later.
If you played Re:Birth 1 there was DLC for a character named Pulita/Iris Heart but didn't have a story but was fun to play as. Well I will say she is a major factor of this game and I will say she should win a character award because she definitely has one. Another feature I loved in the sequel Re:Birth 2 was Stella's Dungeon which has a very big improvement. It has it's own dungeon that builds up as you go further in the game and do the plans for it which gets you better items. It keeps going even after you turn off the game which the 2nd was in game only time. Also this time you do have helpers that find treasure and can avoid traps. You still lose your equipped items if you lose but your helper will be on the floor you lost at so you will need to rescue them to get them back.
A new feature that you may or may not like is when exiting a dungeon your SP does not get fully replenished and will require random battles to get back into good SP amount. Battles still use the 4 party system which is great because you will need 4 with some of the enemies you encounter this go-round. The game does get tough with mobs and a lot of health/defense. There is DLC which will be characters and of course breaking level 99 though how many characters I haven't heard all of yet but it looks to be fan favorites from the series. So overall the game does some new things and a couple of hard new features that make grinding a necessity for the end game but the graphics look too good to say it's a chore.
Final thoughts: I'm not sure if this will be the final Neptune game but if so, it goes out with a big bang and really doesn't pull punches with what it makes fun of or gives a shout out to. From VR to countless other shows and games Nep doesn't hold back and neither does the fun. Tougher monsters and more strategy on conserving SP usage. Re:Birth 3 is a must buy for Neptune fans as well as JRPG fans. I hope there's more in the future as it's a great series and continues to get better after each game.
