Before Smash Brothers there was Marvel Vs Capcom a fighting game where Mega Man can beat Wolverine, even though WE know that can't ACTUALLY happen.. right?
Graphics: Well PS3 and Vita both look the same more so than other fighting game ports. The comic book style is in full effect as well as the huge 48 characters (50 if you were lucky to get the DLC before Capcom took the game off psn). The engine they used works great for the little system and runs smooth as butter with no lag. Backgrounds are more interactive than just stills and look really well done.
Gameplay: The game is easy to jump into for pros as well as beginners thanks to a Touch mode as well as a simplistic controls option. There are lots of moves both for defense and offense to master from heavy combos to reversals and air combos. One new feature is that X that is on the timer which when charged makes you stronger for a bit by hitting the X in Touch mode or by button pressing a certain way. I would like to ask Capcom why was there no Mega Man in this or B.B Hood you know two BIG stars of the game.
Presentation: menus are shown as a huge comic book and the announcer is in full effect with team calling and announcing the matches if you have that option on that is. What is annoying is the way tutorial is not really a tutorial. The instruction book is one huge tutorial than the game itself. You have to travel menu options just to see how to do moves which is kinda annoying and a slight chore that games like Injustice and Mortal Kombat do alot better. Arcade mode once you beat the boss, are greeted with a crappy no sense making ending. I love the way they did them which makes sense but really are so bad it's funny. For instance Jill's ending you see Blade. Why wasn't he in the game and why do we have She-Hulk and Pheonix Wright? Two DLC characters were introduced in the Ultimate edition and not regular (which is a different story since this is Vita review). Online I believe is down forever so if you love trophy chasing...this won't be it.
Final Round: So you get up to 48 or 50 characters who are all fun to play as but choice wise I miss Venom and Mega Man though I heard there was a Mega Man DLC costume for Zero so if true then there is that. The Heroes & Heralds mode is fun but a useless mode though I came in too late to fully enjoy. There is a reason why Evo had this game to compete in. It is massive with the fighting from defensive and offensive moves to learn and master. This is a fun title with a few minor flaws that any fighting fan should find a copy though don't be shocked for crazy prices.
Score 9 out of 10
Pros: Classic Dante unlike PS All Stars Dante.
The Graphics and gameplay are amazing
Cons: No Mega Man or B B Hood.
Some modes are just useless
I miss buying the characters like in MVC2.
