Well Vita players finally get the masterpeice known as Bastion a beautifully hand drawn action RPG but how does it fair?
Story: you are Kid a worker that was living everyday life until the calamity struck and the Bastion is the safe haven for any survivors. The goal is getting items for the monument and rebuild the bastion by going to areas and recovering them. The narrator speaks throughout the game and even sometimes mentions what you do or what happen to you.
Gameplay: The biggest part is exploring and which the game wants you to do since it is how you get to fully understand what has happend and get items for upgrading weapons that cost crystals. You can have two weapons and a skill that uses black tonic and they prove quiet useful when in a pinch. As you move around, the area moves with you by placing tiles as you go which makes it amazing to look at. If you get injured there are health tonics that can heal plus you can carry a certain amount for future use. There is also ways to earn more exp like using gods which can make the game ridiculously hard or not use any and play it safe your choice.
Weapons can get upgraded a good bit and you can switch what upgrades to use depending on what you think is good before heading to a level. You also have memories you can complete or arenas but it also serves as a training ground for new weapons or if you want to test older ones.
Sound: The soundtrack is awesome and it isn't loud and goes well with the game.It is a laid back melody but there are a few that have a light rock vibe going for it. As I said about the narrator, he does a great job reading the story as it plays out and not alot if any have done it as well as Bastion.
Presentation: The 6 to 8 hour game spews presentation with hand drawn enviorments and enemies like it was a hand drawn picture that came to life. The backgrounds look great as well and is a joy to the eyes. Loading can take quiet a bit but it's not too long a wait but noticable. I did run across a bug where words weren't said and lines went by so quick you couldn't read them but doesn't happen often. Another part of the game is Proving Grounds where you try to win weapon upgrades and a skill for that weapon but I will say the last won is a killer.
Last thoughts: A cream of the crop game this is. Well rounded and a great visual experience to behold. The narrating is top notch though I never got attached to the characters but more into the world itself, which isn't a bad thing when you see it for yourself. Any action RPG fan or any fans want a game with heart should truly pick this up.
Score 10 out of 10
Pros: Amazing visuals
Great narrator
Worlds look amazing
Cons: Some slowdown when alot of enemies take the screen
Just for the record: This is now on every system but 3DS.
