Platform: Vita, PS4 and Steam
Developer: Vlambeer
Price: $11.99
Nuclear Throne a game about a post-apocolyptic world with a group of monsters hellbent on getting to the throne is finally out of Early Access and is on a varity of platforms. This could be called a bullet hell shooter the way enemies and yourself will be firing a barrage of bullets around the battlefield and you have a pretty nice batch of weapons to use. You also fight with aiming because you aim with the right and fire with R and in some cases is just a bad kind of control setup. You have alot of characters to choose from and each one has a skin to unlock and they're not easy though from what I hear PSN users can't access them yet due to a much needed update happening next year sometime.
Yes the game has bugs like golden weapons just vanishing though not sure if it's common or rare. The game is still playable if you can manage to deal with the controls. The game is random in drops and enemies besides bosses and some levels have secret levels to access by means of certain weapons. Now with each character you have an ability which can change by way of mutation which is what you earn by leveling up but there are a good bit of skills to choose from.
You also have a daily and weekly mode which is to chase scores on the leaderboards which can be pretty fun. Unlocking characters can be quiet the challenge in one case luck would have to be on your side (look up horror unlock) while others are just reaching a level or a hidden one. Enemies come in a wide varity like rats, maggots and even cops which are just as crazy as the bosses.
Would I say get this title? Yes just not on Vita. Steam offers a better version with control options and this just isn't suited for consoles.
Score: 6 out of 10
Pros: Roguelike type of game
Lots of weapons
Characters play differently
Cons: Bugs
Controls.
