Well long time coming but didn't want to review this until mostly finished. Only a few extra battles to do and unlock LOC for more powerleveling. That is what makes a Disgaea game great is when you think you are done, take another look because you can easily put hundreds hours in the post game.
Disgaea 4 not only looks great but has the biggest cast apart from D2 and 5. I think this does offer the best main cast besides the first of course. A Prinny instructor who use to be a Tyrant, a werewolf who is a servant and a Prinny girl just to name a few. Gameplay is the same but added stuff or more added to a certain previous element. Skill merges are out but dual magichange and fusions are added which can make or break a game.
Speaking of breaking, a cheat shop like in D2 has been added which makes this the easiest/hardest one that you want. You can raise enemy levels and lower without a bill to pass. You can't go crazy with it because you want one thing, you have to lower the others all or partial. The story is pretty good compared to 3 as well with you playing as Valvatorez the former Tyrant and now Prinny instructor. The story starts small and gets bigger with more meaning towards the end but it's a great ride.
If I had one thing I hate a bit it's the Evil Deputy system. It's complicated and hard to manage. Only a few are useful for the game but the board makes them hard to read and you can mix them together or just mess it up if not planned. It's a major part for certain things but otherwise a forgettable system but easier than the Classroom management.post game is amazingly huge with all the DLC included plus new story arcs. If you previously played 4 on PS3, you can input a code to get to the DLC without getting to postgame though postgame characters are still postgame only. Disgaea 3 did the same thing but you couldn't get the rewards of them until postgame which made the code useless unless you wanted to beat the extra story arcs. This is a soild title that isn't for you if you can't put hours and hours into it. It is for the hardcore though and lets you very well know that but it is a classic that RPG fans should own.
Score: 9 out of 10
Pros: Great HD character graphics
Post game is deep
Huge cast
Cons: Evil Deputy system feels to complicated to fully understand at times.
