10 Tons have been busy developers on Vita with Sparkle series, King Oddball and my Favorite, Crimsonland. Well they are back with Baseball Riot a take on Tennis In The Face. The game is about a player named Gabe Carpaccio who gets injured to the point he's just selling sports equipment. That is until Explodz comes in and trys to take over. Gameplay is very much the same as T.I.T.F though they added a few tweaks and such to the gameplay.
First thing is you have to get players and stars not just one or the other. One thing I find weird is how glass STOPS a ball because as a kid I found this completly false. Other things are catchers can catch your balls and umpires have heavy armor and need to get hit in the back or in other good spots. The way levels break down is pretty simple with having enough stars has the next set of levels unlocked.
Now I don't think the game is fun if played all night but great in short burst. Some games work better that way and Baseball Riot is one of those and that's not a bad thing. I will say since we have tennis and baseball, is football next? That would be pretty fun I think and with some tackles blitz style right?
Controls are simple with using the touch screen like Angry Birds (sad to say that game) but it won't be a straight shot as you soon find out. Later levels have you doing bank shots and doing shots not remotly physical just to lose the level due to the ball going somewhere else.
Last comments: Yes this game has ideas that was used previously but it is a nice challenge and adds a few minor things to this to make it its own title. Puzzle fans should pick this up and call this your MLB The Show 2017 edition.
Score 8 out of 10
Pros: Baseball returns to vita just not the way you thought
Very challenging
Lots of levels
Cons: Gets challenging pretty soon.
This will make you question physics
