The 80's that time where girls just wanted to have fun and Transformers ruled the morning cartoons. If you could relive those days would you? Well thanks to Mighty Rabbit you can with SMRPG. You play as Marty who has a dream about getting a magic nootbook with strickers to scratch at for power gain turns out to be real. Facing off against against Hood and other know faces like some bots who transform but can't say Transformer because...well just because.
Gameplay is a mix between Super Mario RPG, your basic JRPG style with alot of awesome 80's to 90's flair thrown in a blender so in short: it works. Playstation and soon Steam is treated to the elusive episode 5 (I kept bugging the team about it on mobile forms I know) and was worth the long wait and comes together. If a episode 6 comes or doesn't well it won't matter because the ending just goes great as to me, seems like it tied alot of unanswered questions and ended on a high note.
Music, which I don't cover alot in reviews changes this go round as it is filled with 80's style that some seem Leathal Weapon-ish which is one of my movies I can watch over and over. Music is done by Vince Dicola who has Rocky 4 and Transformers animated under his belt to name a few and Kenny Meriedeth. The game music is just awesome and the soundtrack is stellar.
There are a few other modes like Arena and Endless and Arena has only two choices from Hood's troops to a bot. Endless is well endless taking enemies from a episode of your choice. I think that the only bad thing I could say is fighting the bots can be a pain and that I wish there was a key item list (though you get very few of them sometimes you don't know if you got them). So pretty small nitpicks. It can get really easy but just seeing the zebra's from a bubblegum brand run over enemies or a mario like jumping just never get old. Fans of the 80's, cartoons and RPGs need to get this.
Score 9 out of 10
Pros: Great soundtrack
Great art style
Lots of 80's who's who and what's what
Cons: Game can be too easy
Bots really like to transform to car
