TTR first popped up on iOS devices on January 30th of last year and was a pretty solid racer with it's shiny graphics and "on rails racing action" but now with a new control scheme does the game get to hold the lead?
Table Top Racing is a micro vehicle racer that uses power ups to hit other cars or other strategic ways. There's your championship mode, drift mode and a few more including online. First I want to say minus the new control scheme there's nothing new from the iOS version not that it's a bad thing. Things are more zoomed in but graphics are the same with it's shiny texture and nice shadows. Vehicles range from your normal car to a hotdog mobile with upgrades for each one.
Upgrades can only be done where it's located at so in other words no free picking. Money comes in pretty quick so while upgrades can get high, they aren't to far out of price. Also in upgrades there's new rims and a paint job for each one with rims being universal but paint jobs having to be re issued if change of mind. I love the iOS version but the auto gas was a little weird but got use to it, so the vita edition has a gas and brake button to keep it more traditional. Is this a good racer? Answer is yes but no it won't blow away Need For Speed in anyway but I rather play TTR any day for I prefer arcade racers.
Graphics are crisp and loading is no problem and this runs at a great 60 FPS. There's a lot of levels and multiplayer will keep you coming back for more missile shooting and bomb dropping fun. There's a good bit of trophies as well for the collectors. I think more cars should have been added since it's a vita release but the game is still solid (if you don't keep hitting the back buttons on accident). There's not a lot of racers on vita besides Wipeout,Asphalt and Need For Speed but it still holds it's own for some good party plays.
Score 8.0
Pros- better view of the cars and seems a slight upgrade to graphics from iOS release.
Lots of modes to keep you busy.
Cons- shame more cars weren't added.
Back button kinda gets in the way of positioning.
