Take Pipe Mania some RPG elements and challenging puzzles and you have SwapQuest. The point of the game is to make a path to fight enemies, get treasure and even use ponds to put out fires on a later path in the game. You even fight bosses which I think is the best part of the game because it's original and unique.
Let us start with the story: The king needed a hero after a demon was terrorizing the lands. Some nameless person steped up with an orb and a sword called Aventana which is what the kingdom was named after. That is it in short and it does a great way to tell it which is very NES era style. Now you can select the daughter or son of the king and a class which are choices of: Noble, Rogue, Fighter, Acolyte, Trickster and Tinkerer.
Class matter as do choice of skill when you hit a certain level you get a choice between two and a class upgrade. This also happens again later on and here is a tip: pick wisely. Now one thing that caught my ears when playing is the tunes which are Zelda/Game Of Thrones mixed and just go together so well now back to the game. Your character moves on his/her own minus if there is a split then you can choose a direction but the main goal is path drawing.
After beating a level you have choices which is a challenge level or picking the next which brings me to my next tip: choose challenge and replay the previous level and save your jewels because rushing the game is the last thing you want to do because your level matters plus putting jewels into increasing your skills and even weapon/armo. Yes there is even a store with weapons, armor, bank and enchantress.
There is even another mode called Endless which is a highscoring game that has its own set of rules which is everything is found in levels and there is no merchant and you still have goals to do just like in the story mode that gives you extra jewels. There is also a game mode that lets you play levels in order they show up or you can shuffle which is selecting between two random levels so this is pretty much two games in one.
Last comments: This is a challenging puzzle RPG that old school players will want and newcomers will want to try out and you get even a little more content with the extra class and a new boss not to mention either touch controls or using the dpad/analog stick.
Score 9.5 Out Of 10
Pros: SNES graphics
Great music
A good challenge
Replay value
Cons: Can't replay levels if moving forward and you can get stuck
