Curve Studios seems to be on a roll as of late with putting out soild titles. We had Stealth 2 and a BMX title with a recent PS4 game just coming out. Well i'm reviewing one that is a pretty original title called Nova-111 and I will sound the areas look awesome in the game. Story there really isn't one but you have a goal which is save scientist and get to the goal which sounds easy right? Well at the start yes but you will soon see it gets hard quick as it introduces new game styles ever so often but you do have an ace up your sleeve with a few power ups you earn thoughout the game. The gameplay itself is pretty neat with each move makes all the enemies move as well so this is a game where planning is key.
Power ups can be a lazer to blast hard rocks or enemies, slow time or move an extra step which becomes useful as enemies get harder. There are also traps needing to be watched out for like flame throwers or just fire in general on the later worlds. Graphics hold up quiet well though some drops here and there but only whwn there is alot of action on screen but that is rare as puzzles is the main focus. Power ups won't be the only thing you pick up also, you pick up a health container that with 4, increase your health and also the element to be able to use your special power ups because they're not infinite. Bosses bring a different sort of style by means of puzzle. You will have to use traps yourself to hit them while taking down the regular smaller enemies.
The game experience is a pretty good length with a NG+ to unlock after completion that lets you add and tweak stuff which is always fun and least deserves another playthrough. It runs pretty soild for the most part and the graphics are really neat to see and while playing I kept wondering this: why does my ship look like Claptrap? Not a complaint but just kinda weird though the game has humor in the form of your fellow scientist who gives you tips as well, he does have alot to say. The game is a must buy for any fan of Curve and RTS lite games. With a great challenge and fun boss fights with neat level design, wbat is there not to love?
Score: 9.0 Out Of 10
+ Levels are short for pick up and play
Bosses require some thought
A NG+ with something behind it
- Some slowdown here and there but not serious
